Artist Talk - Morticia

We warmly invite you to attend our artist talk this Thursday at Inkwell. The evening will be hosted by Morticia who will chat about her work and practice as a visual artist and photographer. Morticia was one of the Place and memory Artists whose exhibition is now on show at Inkwell.

Morticia is a visual artist who moved to Leeds to study history in the mid eighties when the city centre was still black with soot. The history of the city and it’s growth and change during the 1800’s is her biggest inspiration and she is constantly looking both for and at the remnants of the city’s visible and not so visible history. The starting point for her work is black and white film photographs taken with vintage cameras but she also incorporates site specific found objects and modern recreations and interpretations of historical custom and practice.
