Secret Cinema at the Love Arts Festival

This month we are hosting a special film night as part of the Love Arts Festival.
Secret Cinema have chosen an award winning claymation feature film to be screened this Friday at Inkwell.

Doors open at 6.30pm to offer time for guests to order something from our cafe bar where there will be homemade cakes, pastries and toasties, as well as hot and cold drinks.

The film starts at 7.30pm

Place and Memory

This summer, eight artists worked together discovering the city and themselves. Three Inkwell artists ( Amanda Burton, Lorna Johnstone and Donna Coleman) were chosen as part of the eight to work on this creative professional development project led by Emma Bolland, Judit Bodor and Tom Rodgers.

These artists, writers, and filmmakers have responded to the city of Leeds. Sharing personal and collective memories, they examine the hidden and overlooked corners of the city, finding beauty in unexpected places.

Exploring graveyards, wastelands, woodlands, and a hospital’s echoing corridors, they have created drawings, installations, photographs, video, poetry, sculpture, and sound. Read More

We love this time of year at Inkwell. Autumn brings with it a new term, new students, fresh faces and a rejuvenated team after the summer break. October is also the time of year the Love Arts Festival starts and we are really thrilled to be the organisers of some of the great line up of events happening.

The Love Arts Festival aims to get people thinking and talking about mental health and to reduce the related stigma that so many people experience. The arts are a fantastic vehicle to explore these complex issues as well as an important medium for participation and inclusion for people affected by mental health difficulties. This year they have drawn their inspiration from the power of storytelling to create understanding and harness creativity. Read More
