Digital Inclusion

On the second Tuesday of every month Inkwell offers users the opportunity to explore the world of social media and digital innovation. This all day event is aimed to help service users, carers, workers from the voluntary, community and statutory sectors or anyone who is interested in the crossover between arts and digital technology and learning skills in social media.

Our first ever Digital Craft Cafe launched at the beginning of March where we used digital cameras and Zoetropes to make simple animations creating magical animated footage using simple pieces of cardboard and drawings.

Learning how to create drawings and illustrations that could connect you to the internet using the principles of QR Codes ( Quick response codes) was also a feature of this months Digital Craft cafe.

As well as the creative aspect to the day, experts in social media were on hand to offer advice on how to master Twitter and Facebook for both personal and professional use. We can advise and help people how to make the most out of WordPress and blogging while discussing important aspects such as staying safe online.

With the Cafe we aim to tackle the digital divide and the issues surrounding digital exclusion. It is estimated that over 8.5 million people have never been online. So much of everyday life focused with being able to confidently access online services from: job searches, paying bills, feeling connected through social media and accessing online support services are just a few that could be mentioned. Research shows online access to be a key factor in empowering individuals, enabling social mobility and promoting general wellbeing.

If you have skills to share do come along and help and advise others or if you want to learn how to use social media and are curious about digital tools and art join us between 10am - 3pm on April 8th at Inkwell.

Our Cafe will b open serving fresh coffees and hot drinks, homemade cakes and a delicious lunch menu.
