Jazz Cafe in August 2015
Seven Jazz hosts our Jazz Cafe afternoons at Inkwell providing us with a great line up of jazz bands and musicians to enjoy.
The Sunday gigs are held at either Seven Arts or here at Inkwell with the best of the rich and creative elements of the Leeds and Northern jazz scene. Seven Jazz Leeds is a highly successful and popular voluntary jazz promoter based in Chapel Allerton in North Leeds. Our aim is to bring the best of jazz to Leeds. We started in September 2007 and are now one of the major jazz promoters in the North of England . In 2012 won the most Jazz Yorkshire Jazz Club of the Year award at their final event in Dean Clough Halifax.

Matt Aplin’s ‘Treppenwitz’ + Jam
Inkwell: 1.30pm to 4.15pm
Cost : £7/£5
Matt Aplin piano; Tom Riviere double bass; Steve Hanley drums. Original compositions and improvisations interwoven with music from the swing and early bop era.
Band will play 1.30 to 2.30, followed by a jam session. Players/singers/listeners welcome!

August Le Toot & The Kansas City Four + Jam
Inkwell - 1.30pm to 4.15pm
Cost: £7/£5
Eliot Richards tenor sax; Tom Sharp trumpet; Matt Aplin piano; Angus Milne double bass; Matt Parkinson drums. A 1940’s/50’s bebop jazz group, focusing on the work of seminal horn players of the period such as Charlie Parker, James Moody, Dizzy Gillespie and Lee Morgan. Band will play 1.30 to 2.30, followed by a jam. Players/singers/listeners welcome!
