Welcome to Inkwell

A safe creative art space in Leeds

Enriching lives through creativity and promoting positive mental health

Inkwell is a safe, creative and accessible space where passion and skills entwine, challenging the stigma of mental health and celebrating the diversity of its participants. It seeks to engage, stimulate and absorb all abilities through creative activity. Users develop life skills such as teamwork and problem solving leading to increased confidence and improved wellbeing.

We are a Leeds Mind Project, a national registered Charity supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties. Leeds Mind provides services throughout the Leeds area and believes that everyone can lead a full, active and rewarding life. We support people to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ and to live life independently with their mental health condition.

What We Do

We are a creative and innovative mental health service based in Leeds 7 offering a whole range of classes and activities for the wider community, people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families. Some are on a referral only basis while others are open for anyone to join, including painting and drawing, ceramics, crafts, Salsa, songwriting and a weekly open Craft Cafe session. We also offer regular social evenings and a family friendly weekend cafe service offering home-cooked wholesome food and creative activities for all ages.

Volunteering at Inkwell is a crucial aspect to our service and how we are able to support people with mental health difficulties. Working in a peer-led way in a supportive environment we assist individuals to realise their full potential by building confidence, self-belief, providing purpose while sharing and learning skills.
