Place and Memory Book Launch Exhibition

Last year eight artists and writers were invited to be part of the Place and Memory Project. An adventure in urban exploration unlocked their personal and collective relationships with the city of Leeds. They walked together through woodland, wasteland, housing estates and city streets, encountering Victorian Hospitals, forgotten graveyards and underground rivers along their way.

What has emerged, is a remarkable book of words and images. Published by Gordian projects, and designed to reflect the spirit of collaboration and discovery that developed during their journey, the book exposes the poetry and beauty to be found in the over looked corners of the city.

The book will be launches at Inkwell on May 23rd, accompanied by an exhibition, films and readings by the artists.
